Wabash College

Wabash Men Speak For Themselves.

Explore Wabash College this summer. One of the few remaining all-male colleges in the country, Wabash is an institution steeped in tradition, academic excellence and honor. And their summer program will show you why. From the Gentleman's Rule to the Monon Bell game, students will immerse themselves in an institution that never ceases to amaze the lucky few who walk its hallowed halls. Do you love a challenge? Are you ready to make friends for life? If you answered yes, check out Wabash this summer. It'll change your life.

Award Winning Academics

More than 98 percent of the 88 full-time faculty members at Wabash hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree. Wabash’s special strength lies with a faculty dedicated to teaching undergraduate students. Wabash maintains a student/faculty ratio of 10/1 and offers 21 majors in the following areas: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Classics, Economics, English, French, German, Greek, History, Latin, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Religion, Rhetoric, Spanish, and Theater.

Wolcott Hall

Students live in Wolcott Hall, right next to the Sparks Student center. Each student has their own bedroom and shares a bathroom with one other student. The residence halls have student lounges, air-conditioning and laundry rooms. All rooms feature Internet connections and are also served by Wabash's wireless network.

Wabash's Beautiful Campus

The 60-acre wooded campus contains 39 buildings predominantly of Georgian architecture. Caleb Mills taught the first class of Wabash students on December 3, 1833 in Forest Hall, located since 1965 at the north end of campus and now home to the Teacher Education Department.

The Perfect Location

Crawfordsville, Indiana, hometown of Ben Hur and "Hoosier Mania" is ranked in the 100 best small towns in America by New Republic Magazine. Home to more than 15,000 people, Crawfordsville also attracts more than its fair share of travelers. And when you're ready for a night away from campus, simply hop in your car for a road trip. Wabash is only 45 miles from Indianapolis and 140 miles from both Chicago and Cincinnati. Plus, the University of Illinois, Purdue University, the University of Chicago, and Indiana University are all easily accessible.

Top-Notch Facilities

The special relationships between faculty and students develop anywhere - in class, in offices, and over pizza. But Wabash's facilities are second to none, and getting better all the time. Check out Hays Hall, a $30 million biology and chemistry building and newly-renovated Goodrich Hall, both of which have been designed to put our faculty and student research side-by-side. The $20 million Allen Athletics and recreation Center is the finest Division III facility under one roof. The same can be said for our Fine Arts Center, which includes the visual art, rhetoric, music and theater departments.

Indianapolis, IN
United States

We'll travel to Indianapolis for a full day of excitement! This amazing city is home to world-class museums, the NCAA Hall of Fame and the AAA Indians, so each student is guaranteed to have a fantastic time. Indianapolis is also only an hour away. That means students should look forward to a full day of taking in the sites, eating great food and hanging out with new friends!

Life and Death - Ethics and Law - Spaces AVAILABLE!

Some of the most vexing legal, social, and ethical issues of our time revolve around the relationship between life and death. What are the legal-medical-moral standards that separate life and death? Who should make live or die decisions? And under what circumstances, if any, is ending life legal or ethical? The negotiation of the meaning of life, the existence of a right to die, and the legality of physician assisted suicide are difficult issues. By approaching them from multiple disciplines and with tools drawn from the fields of rhetoric, ethics, and law, students will develop their own abilities to wrestle with matters of life and death and debate the legal implications. This is ethical and practical debate that only a liberal arts education can provide. The course features three Wabash Faculty members, Professors Scott Himsel, Todd McDorman and Cheryl Hughes.

Pharmaceutical Development - SPACES AVAILABLE!

Pharmaceutical Development explores what drugs are, how they affect the body, and how they're developed. Have you ever wondered how pharmaceutical companies discover drugs? Where do ideas for new drugs come from--the lab or nature? How are they tested? This pre-college session highlights topics in organic chemistry and biochemistry, with daily hands-on and laboratory activities that will culminate in a field trip to a local pharmaceutical facility. This course features three members of the Wabash Chemistry Department, Professors Ann Taylor, Wally Novak and Scott Feller.
